This is a brief article to discuss the new Terrapin X vs. Gunwerks G7 BR2500 Rangefinders.
At first glance they appear to be very similar but in reality they are not at all.
The Terrapin is an amazing long range rangefinder, that's what it does, unlike the Gunwerks G7 which is a total solution with weather and ballistics built-in.
They are about the same size, but in operation they offer a different experience.
The Terrapin has some excellent connectivity to the likes of a Kestrel for example and the combination of those two devices gives you a firing solution out farther than anything else in the realms of civilian budget.
The G7 on the other hand is a very good rangefinder, but nowhere near as good as the Terrapin. Where it shines is the ease of use of taking a shot, with a single device, where everything but wind is calculated with one click. For long range you might just estimate the wind using your eyes vs using a wind meter and that's where the G7 wins.
When it comes to pinpoint accuracy at very long ranges then the Terrapin wins.
So they are far from the same, they don't offer the same functionality, but they both have a role to play in long range shooting and hunting.
